The idea behind our work on the SoftX Family was to create a range of chairs which are meant to be able to turn conference areas into sympathetic spaces. People who use the chairs – or just look at them – should simply feel well.

 

We generated a soft and minimalistic basic shape that supports the material´s aesthetical appearance. Precious fabrics and carefully refined metallic surfaces can display their sensual qualities. Technical or constructive aspects step back.

 

The oval gap in the backrest as the significant design element makes the chairs visually light and enlarges the comfort: it makes the backrest flexible and works as a handle to lift the chair.

 

And finally the gap is a symbol for the smile with which the chair welcomes everybody who enters the room …
